Opportunities Worldwide in collaboration with The Way of Life Cambodia shine a light on a Youth Leader, Global Citizenship Education Advocate (GCED), and a Change-maker name D. Freeman Myers from the Republic of Liberia, West Africa.
D. Freeman Myers is a youth and civil rights, defender. Born on January 22, 1998, in Owensgrove, Grand Bassa County, Republic of Liberia. He is a second-semester Sophomore student at the University of Liberia reading Economics as major and Public Administration as minor.
Currently, Myers is serving in the capacity as Student Mentor Volunteer at the Center for Education and Leadership Development Initiative-Liberia (CELDI-Liberia), an institution with the sole purpose of breeding a new generation of servant-leaders. Moreover, his ultimate desire in contributing to youths and students’ activities interest him to also joined scores of the youth of like minds and founded the Youth Network for Educative Transformation (YONET), where he presently serves as Secretary-General. YONET is a mind transforming organization which seeks to ‘rejuvenate the culture of academic excellence.’
Internationally, Myers was nominated and further recognized by the Board of Directors and National President of the Global Youth Parliament in Nepal, specifically for Liberia-Chapter to serve as Assistant Research Director. Global Youth Parliament – is an international youth-led institution with the main aims to motivate young minds in societal work, entrepreneurship, democracy, and sustainable development for the better world.
Knowingly, Myers -is an astute debater and veteran quizzer of the Calvary Baptist Church School System alias Angels Kingdom. During his ‘High School Days’; he played as Presenter and Rebuttal for the Debate Team and Mathematics for the Quizzing Team, respectively. Interestingly, Myers’ quest for student’s leadership permitted him to have served as PRESIDENT for the Students’ Council Government of the Calvary Baptist Church School System (2016/2017). Hence, upon graduating from High School, Myers’ academic prowess spotted him out as one of the BEST PERFORMING STUDENTS, academically – thus honoring him as ‘Salutatorian’ for the graduating class of “À NÀ MUZÈÈ 2016/2017.”
In another relevant capacity, Myers is a writer/blogger, planner, speaker, and an ideal strategist. Myers, do believe that our lives as people can be shifted, depending on the positive steps taken forward – and those positive steps include but not limited to: Innovation, Solution-driven, Creativity, Influence, purpose identification, and many others.
