Hilltop Schools is a new Liberian NGO that will work to promote children’s rights to education, health, and protection. We envision an organization of high impact and integrity. Hilltop Schools was launched to carry on the activities and mission of More Than Me following its closure. Hilltop Schools is committed to leveraging the best of More Than Me’s prior work with improved Liberian leadership, governance, and accountability. Students at More Than Me Academy are healthy because they practice important hygiene
behaviors to protect themselves from diseases. They have access to clean water and clean, safe latrines. School Health Clubs are advocates for health practice and students are also involved in keeping the campus environment clean. We are looking for a Nurse to fill this position.
Role Summary
The SCHOOL NURSE will provide onsite care for the student and manage health records. He/She
will work to accomplish our organizational health goals:
– No preventable deaths at our schools
– No unwanted or unplanned pregnancies
– Access to clean water and sanitation based on WASH principles
– Access to a healthy meal daily
Key areas of responsibility described below:
– Diagnose and treat all MTMA students by overseeing medication administration, health care procedures, and the development of healthcare plans
– Monitor student living with chronic conditions for follow up care
– Refer students to the appropriate clinic when necessary
– Manage MTMA school clinic and produce appropriate reports
– Conduct health education classes with the MTMA students
– Conduct Family Planning training sessions with eligible MTMA students
– Accompany students at referral facilities when necessary
– Conduct training needs assessment with students and creates a training plan
– Collect all referrals forms and bills from outside health providers and submit to finance
– Manage communicable diseases, and assess the school environment as to prevent injury and ensure safety
– Overseeing infection control measures
– Participating in school safety plans that address school violence, bullying, and emergencies that may occur at school
– Overseeing vision, hearing, body mass index, and mental health screening procedures
– Assisting families and students to navigate external health care access with the organization’s health insurance scheme
– Follow through on students with chronic conditions
– Document and manage case records for 300+ students including incidents, consultations, and ongoing health concerns
– Document and communicate with the Director of Safeguarding on any suspicions of abuse that come from health consultation visits with students
– Uphold to nursing professional standards of confidentiality
– Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor
Required Qualifications:
– Commitment to uphold Hilltop Schools culture to be professional, relentless, honest and
energized; to be an active learner, and to embody love
– Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N), or Licensed Registered Nurse/Physician’s Assistant
– Good computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel required
– Between 2-5 years of clinical experience working as an RN or PA
– Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
– Excellent communication and coordination skills
– Management experience is an asset
– Experience working with girls and a good record of confidentiality
