📜 What’s the Competition About?

This poetry competition invites young voices to promote human rights awareness in Liberia. Organized by OHCHR, UNICEF, the EU, University of Liberia, and MTN, this event seeks to:

  • Amplify Youth Voices: Encourage students to speak on human rights issues, including Liberia’s Human Rights 75 (HR75) pledges.
  • Create a Safe Space: Inspire young people to express opinions, ideas, and attitudes toward human rights creatively.
  • Inspire Action: Motivate youth to support and advocate for human rights.

📌 Who Can Participate?

Current high school and university students in Liberia, with winners chosen in each category.

🖋️ How to Join

  1. Choose a Topic: Select a human rights theme, including Liberia’s HR75 pledges.
  2. Write a Poem: Submit a sonnet, ballad, haiku, or free verse.
  3. Submit by Email: Send your poem to poetryhumanrights@gmail.com with “HR Poetry” as the subject. Include your name, age, school, and contact info.

📅 Deadline: 25 November 2024, 11:59 pm local time.

🎁 Prizes

Winners will recite their poems on International Human Rights Day, with their work featured on radio and in the “Voices from the Soul” anthology. Plus, win exciting prizes like smartphones, tablets, and more!
